So You Think You Can Dance: Get Fit Cardio Funk
The format on this DVD is similar to Get Fit Tone and Groove
except that the dance/movement is more extreme and faster,
as one might expect with the focus on cardio.
The dancers come on with funky costumes to set the mood forCardio Funk.
Again, each routine has five stages, first starting with individual steps,
then putting them together, following up with music and finally performance free-style.
Counting out steps and giving instructions are done in all but the last stage,
so the dancers have to dance and speak at the same time - and they do it very well.
The pace for all these routines is fast and so, when they go into the double fast routine, it feels like too much even for them.
Controlled movement disappears and it looks more like just flinging the body around.
Courtney Galiano does Disco with body bending moves;
Travis Wall, the funkiest of the lot, does a contemporary routine that looks
like it could be on stage and Lauren Gottlieb's Hip Hop moves brings out the final sweat.
There are the prerequisite warm-up and cool-down routines.
Cool-down is about my speed. These routines are for the fleet of foot and young in heart.
The interviews demonstrate how important music and movement are to all of them.
Simple friendships were made and finally someone talked about how difficult it was to dance and give instructions simultaneously.
